Trip City is happy to announce the Trip City Salon at Fornino’s in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The event will feature comics, live music, readings, girls (!) and of course, booze! As you can see from the event flyer, the roster is stacked with Trip City favorites. Personally, this is the first time I’ll have the honor of performing alongside my lovely lady, Plucky Charms who will be performing a song on the ukelele for your pleasure. Vavavoom! Myself, I will be reading Time Fucker . Knowing that I will be in arms throw of the audience has me a little concerned, however. How many heads of lettuce do you think I can dodge!? In his column, Graphic Scenes, David Berry takes a look at Graphic Novels that didn’t come under the purview of the newspaper’s book department. This month, he takes a look at MUSH! Sled Dogs with Issues by Glenn Eichler and myself. Here’s a little of what he had to say,

Mush! benefits greatly from Joe Infurnari’s wildly expressive characterizations. There is a pure, unbridled joy perfectly evident in the way these dogs tear through the wilderness, but more impressive is the personality that shines through when these dogs are in repose. There are some classic cartooning tropes at play here — the rotund, well-meaning-but-dim galoot, the dark, angular schemer — with just enough of a rough edge to make them jump off the page whether or not they’re talking.

I had a blast reading Vs. at this past weekend’s Dumbo Digital Arts Summit. Thanks to the efforts of Jeff Newelt and Noah Norman the presentation went off largely without a hitch. Here are some of Seth Kushner‘s amazing photos to document my presentation.

Tomorrow at 5pm I’ll be appearing at the Dumbo Arts Fest Digital Summit Double Feature. After a scintillating talk by Douglas Rushkoff, the Act-i-vate crew will storm the stage to do semi-theatrical readings of their comics. On the bill are Dean Haspiel, Simon Fraser, Seth Kushner with Carlos ‘Mare139′ Rodriguez, Jeff Newelt and myself. I’ll be reading my short story written with Alexis Sottile, Vs.

Afterwards there will be a party and wine tasting at Brooklyn Oenology of the 2009 Riesling, Friend, featuring label art by Jen Ferguson.

All around it promises to be great way to close out your weekend festivities. I hope to see you there!
