Today’s sketches on Drawbridge are dedicated to the works of J.M. DeMatteis. J.M. consistently writes imaginative, positive and affirming comics. He is truly one of comics’ brightest stars.
Now perhaps a reader of this blog post might feel that there’s a disconnect with the above image of a furry man in drag. There isn’t. Ira is from Moonshadow, a glorious piece of comics literature that everyone should read.

Tomorrow at 5pm I’ll be appearing at the Dumbo Arts Fest Digital Summit Double Feature. After a scintillating talk by Douglas Rushkoff, the Act-i-vate crew will storm the stage to do semi-theatrical readings of their comics. On the bill are Dean Haspiel, Simon Fraser, Seth Kushner with Carlos ‘Mare139′ Rodriguez, Jeff Newelt and myself. I’ll be reading my short story written with Alexis Sottile, Vs.
Afterwards there will be a party and wine tasting at Brooklyn Oenology of the 2009 Riesling, Friend, featuring label art by Jen Ferguson.
All around it promises to be great way to close out your weekend festivities. I hope to see you there!
The studio formerly known as XOXOs (Hugs & Kisses) is now Hypothetical Island! XOXOs has had a shakeup of its members over the last year and now with the recent addition of Reilly Brown (Cable & Deadpool, The Incredible Hercules, Prince of Power) we all decided on a fresh start. In honor of George O’Connor‘s relentless hypothetical deserted island questions, we all agreed that the name, Hypothetical Island seemed appropriate. And so, on behalf of Reilly Brown, Becky Cloonan, Jason Little, George O’Connor and Kat Roberts I’d like to announce the formation of Hypothetical Island! Huzzah!
