In other words, MARATHON, the book I've been working on with writer Boaz Yakin for First Second, is now done! The experience of doing this book was difficult and exhilarating. When I first began work on it, I very much felt that my skills were not up to the task and it took a long time before I settled into it. It wasn't long after that that I encountered health problems associated with stress and the ergonomics of my workstation. Months of physical therapy kept me in the race until I was able to get back into it at full speed. I can now look back on the project as a whole and say that it's easily my best work to date and look forward to next year's release with a great deal of optimism. Thanks for being there throughout the process. I'll continue to post news and images from the book leading up to its release in June 2012.

It's been a while now since I got an iphone and in that time, I've grown very fond of taking pictures. Whether I'm in the studio, waiting for a train, at home or out and about, it's become a habit snapping pictures using many of the great photo apps available. My favorite is Instagram. I'm hooked! I take a picture and share it with my friends who follow me in the app. Now I have amassed hundreds of photos and in the interest of sharing them with those of you not using Instagram, I've added a new site: The Photo Feed. It's still in need of some design tweaks but the blog is up and running with over a hundred photos for you to peruse. On the main page are 56 randomly selected images. MARATHON Coloring is Finished!
Phew! With the end of coloring for MARATHON, the bulk of the heavy lifting is done and boy am I relieved! Now all that's left to do is the sound effects and the cover. Stay tooned as I'll be posting updates on those as well. Thanks for the bananas and gatorade, folks!
MARATHON Inks: 15 Pages to Go!
After crossing the 100 page mark a while ago, I've been reluctant to signal the final countdown for the inks. Now that there is only 15 pages left, I think it's safe to say I'm on the home stretch. But hark there's more! Oh yes, this is only one leg of the journey! Stay tooned for colors and lettering! Oh, and don't forget to hand me a cup of water now and then, too.
Lunedi Loony Sharpie Doodles!
These doodles seem to be the best so far. It's been a bit of an experimental journey getting here but I think these drawings are sort of the culmination of the evolution up until now. Take a look at the rest below the cut and let me know what you think.

Once again, here's another batch of my noxious nocturnal noodling. These pages represent a certain synthesis of all the previous drawings and I think they are perhaps the most successful drawings so far. They've become palimpsestical accumulations of various drawing styles and languages including pure abstraction, flat color, text and representation. Who knew they were such smarty pants!? Even more aristocratic artistry below the cut!
